DAY 1
Arrive in Porto and overnight
Picturesque Porto sits on the Douro River and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  It is a truly beautiful city with much to discover including the Cathedral, Clerigos Tower, the Bolhao Market and Crystal Palace Gardens.  Be sure to savour a glass (or two) of Port wine overlooking the Duoro River in the Ribeira area before heading off on your pilgrimage.

Day 2
Porto to Arcos, 19kms

This morning at 8.30am transfer by car to the small town of Vilar do Pineiro to begin todays easy walk through some lovely woodland paths to reach Arcos.

Day 3
Arcos to Barcelos, 20kms

Todays hike is through green valleys with eucalyptus and pine forests.  Enter the lively village of  Barcelos via its medieval bridge.  The towns historic centre is well worth a visit to learn about its treasured history.

Day 4
Barcelos to Balugaes, 16kms

Pass through small villages and orchards today and en route see many baroque churches.  Arrive in Balugaes, a small and quiet town situated right on the Portuguese Way.

Day 5
Balugaes to Ponte de Lima, 17kms

Today you head to the valley of the Lima River to find the oldest town in Portugal, Ponte de Lima, a charming market town.  Enjoy  the perfectly preserved historical area and explore its narrow streets.

Day 6
Ponte de Lima to Pecene, 18kms

Depart Ponte de Lima over its historic bridge with a climb to Portela Grande. Enjoy spectacular views en route.  Follow the Roman road to Rubiaes, then descend through fertile valleys to the pretty village of Pecene where you will overnight.

Day 7
Pecene to Tui, 15kms

Hilly terrain again today that leads to the fortress of Valenca.  Cross the Minho River on the International Bridge into Spain to arrive at Tui.  Be sure to visit the impressive Romanesque cathedral.

Day 8
Tui to O Porrino, 17kms

Leave the beautiful town of Tui and cross through the Das Monxas Tunnel.  Climb a steep hill to the San Telmo Bridge, known as the Bridge of Fevers.  Descend into O Porrino and at 4.00pm transfer back to Tui for the night.

Day 9
O Porrino to Arcade, 23kms

8.30am Transfer back to O Porrino to continue on your Pilgrimage from where you left yesterday. Continue on through the Louro Valley to reach Redondela.  Stroll on  through pine forests to Setefontes and then the town of Arcade, renowned for its oysters. 

Day 10
Arcade to Pontevedra, 12kms

Follow the cobblestone paths over the Verdugo River to A Canicouva.  Discover the impressive old town of Pontevedra with is charming squares and narrow streets. 

Day 11
Pontevedra to Caldas De Reis, 21kms

Todays Camino takes you through chestnut groves and pine and eucalyptus forests.  Don’t miss seeing the rectory of Santa Maria de Alba in the village of Ponte Cabras.  Further on see a statue of St James with his walking sticking showing pilgrims the way.  Pass through the small hamlet of Tivo with its famed fountain and public washhouse.  The spa town of Caldas de Reis has been renowned since Roman times for its hot springs.

Day 12
Caldas De Reis to Padron, 17kms

Cross the River Umia then a gradual climb through woods to the village of Santa Marina. After descending cross the River Fontenlo to enter Padron, believed to be where St James body arrived when it was bought to Santiago de Compostela by boat.

Day 13
Padron to Santiago de Compostela, 26kms

Pass through small towns to reach the historic sanctuary of A Esclavitude.  From Agros dos Monteiros see your final destination – the spires of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Enjoy this lively and vibrant city listed as a World Heritage UNESCO site. 

Day 14
Arrangements end after breakfast.  We do recommend an extra night in Santiago de Compostela.  You can also take advantage of a day trip to Fisterre.  Also remember to factor in the time to get your ‘Compostela’ - your Pilgrim Passport stamped!
